Local Fireworks Displays – July 4, 2020

Athens celebrates 244 years of American independence with a fireworks display at the Star Spangled Classic. Fireworks launch at approximately 9:30 p.m. from Athens Ben Epps Airport.In light of COVID-19, this Athens tradition has a new launch location this year and citizens are encouraged to view the display as a “drive in” type spectator experience.

Saturday, July 4

Woodstock will have fireworks at dusk. “We strongly encourage those who gather in the area of Woodstock Square for the show to be responsible and follow CDC guidelines,” city manager Jeff Moon said. Traffic plans for the event will be shared on the city’s social media channels ahead of time.

Cumming celebrations will be held at the fairgrounds with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. The city also holds it 63rd Annual Thomas-Mashburn Steam Engine Parade beginning at 10:00 that morning.

Margaritaville at Lake Lanier Islands celebrates with fireworks at 10:00 p.m., after a concert by Johnny Hayes and the Loveseats Band which begins at 7:00

Canton Fourth of July Fireworks take place at the Riverstone Shopping Center. Fireworks go off at 9:30 p.m.

Monroe holds its July 4th Hometown Celebration presented by The Walton County Boys and Girls Club. Music, food and fun start at 3:00 p.m. and culminate in a fireworks show. Activities take place at the Athens Technical College Football Field.

East Point takes its annual “Salute to the Red, White and Blue” Independence Day Fireworks Celebration virtual. The city has partnered with Holopundits to bring you a free virtual fireworks celebration using their Total AR app. Simply download the free app on your smartphone or tablet and on July 4th between 9 p.m.and midnight, hold the device at face-level while pointing it toward the sky to witness a stunning fireworks show using augmented reality. The show will last 10-12 minutes and users can watch the show as many times as they want during that time frame by simply re-opening the app.
