Eddie Murphy announced in a statement that Coming to America 2 is officially the works!
“We’ve assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an amazing job on Dolemite, and I’m looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen,” Murphy said in a statement, according to Deadline.
After almost 35 years since the original movie, Murphy will replay his role as Prince Akeem but will be traveling to America to find his long lost son instead of trying to find a queen.
Deadline reports that Black-sih creator Kenya Barris is rewriting the original script which was written by Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield.
Production has not yet started but is expected to begin sometime in 2019.
